ONTARIO AMATEUR BOXING:

WHY AN ONTARIO BOXING HALL OF FAME; by Brian Zelley

Introduction
*When one looks at the history of Canadian boxing, it is obvious that
the  Province of Ontario has played a key role in the success which
includes being the base of BOXING CANADA.

*In the years between 1984 and 1996, Ontario based boxers would
be an important part of many International tournaments including
the 1984 Olympic Games that had a number of Ontario boxers on
the Canadian Olympic team.  And, throughout the decades
Ontario based coaches would be a part of many of Team Canada's
boxing teams. 

*in the decades before 1984, Canada had many excellent boxer from
Ontario based clubs and would have their share of glory to the pages
of Canadian amateur boxing history.

*In the 2012 London Olympics, one Ontario boxer would be one
of three to represent Team Canada boxing.  The other two were
from Quebec and Nova Scotia. 

There are many many boxers, coaches, officials and volunteers
from Ontario that have been a valuable asset for the sport of boxing.
For that reason, they deserve a hall of their own in the form of the
ONTARIO AMATEUR BOXING  
HALL of FAME
